Farmhouse and Function

This client purchased their Katonah cottage in August of 2022 and quickly enlisted Aesthetic Renovations, a general contractor we frequently partner with, for a complete kitchen and breakfast area remodel. The existing kitchen was small and inefficient, which was a major problem for a client who loves to cook and bake. They needed a space with better flow and more function.
Working together, we opened the wall dividing the two rooms. This gave us the opportunity to move the range into the old breakfast area, creating a much larger and more usable prep space. We also installed a large decorative hood, which not only provides proper venting but also adds a beautiful focal point to the room.
To further improve functionality, we closed up an unused doorway in the adjacent sunroom. This allowed us to add a shallow pantry and a buffet server below a pass-through window from the kitchen, making entertaining a breeze. For a touch of color, we chose a pale gray for the upper cabinets and a deep navy blue for the lowers. We also showcased the home’s existing beams, which add warmth and character to the design. The result is a kitchen that has doubled in both size and functionality, and the client couldn’t be happier.
