This project began when a long-time homeowner reached out, ready to transform their beloved space. The existing kitchen, a key area of a converted barn, felt out of place. While the home boasted beautiful exposed beams and stunning chestnut plank flooring upstairs, the kitchen itself lacked the same character and functionality.
Our vision was to create a kitchen that honored the home’s unique history. We opened a wall to connect the kitchen with the existing laundry space and worked to reveal more of the original ceiling beams, which now flow seamlessly into a sun-drenched breakfast room. By replacing the old windows with new, custom versions, we maximized natural light and framed a stunning view of the backyard.
To improve the kitchen’s functionality, we relocated the range, allowing for a proper hood and creating a dedicated prep and storage area. The doorway to the breakfast room was widened to enhance the flow, and we integrated custom pantry cabinets to elegantly separate the laundry area, which now serves as a stylish and functional mudroom entry.
The new laundry/mudroom is a highlight of the space, clad in custom shiplap and painted a gorgeous taupe-grey. Throughout the entire project, unlacquered brass fixtures and beautiful marble countertops add a touch of timeless luxury, while the custom inset cabinetry provides a beautiful, show-stopping finish.
